What we are, plainly

We are not a waterproofing contractor. Nobody here holds a Michigan maintenance and alteration licence, nobody visits your house, and nobody does the work. If this site told you otherwise it would be both dishonest and, given how Michigan regulates contractor advertising, unwise.

What we do is run the site and the phone line. When you call, the call goes to an independent waterproofing company that works in this area. That company deals with you directly from that point on. We are not party to whatever you agree with them, we do not set their prices, and we do not take a share of what you pay them.

Why the research is real

There is a version of this kind of site that is a template with the town name swapped in. This is not that, and the reason is self interested as much as principled: a page that tells a Saginaw homeowner to check their gutters is worth nothing to them and worth nothing to us.

So the local material on this site comes from primary sources and is cited on the page that uses it. The sewer ordinance sections are read from the city's published code. The licence provisions are quoted from the Michigan Compiled Laws. The soil descriptions are the official series descriptions from the Department of Agriculture. The climate figures are NOAA normals for Saginaw MBS. Where something could not be verified, such as the City of Saginaw's current permit fee schedule, the page says so rather than filling the gap with a plausible number.

Costs are the honest weak spot and are labelled as such. No local pricing for this market exists in any source we could find, so the cost page publishes trade ranges with their origin named instead of inventing a local figure.

The telephone number

The number on this site is a tracking number. It rings through to the independent company that covers your area, and it lets us see that the site produced a call. Calls made to it are recorded. That is stated in the call itself as well as here.

If you would rather not use a tracked line, that is entirely reasonable: the town pages list the public offices for permits and code questions directly, and you are free to find a contractor any way you like. Checking the licence first is worth doing regardless of who you found them through, and the licence page explains how.

How the money works

Advertising sites in this trade are paid by contractors, either for the leads themselves or as a flat arrangement for the site. That is the business model here too. You are not charged anything, and the price you are quoted for work is a matter between you and the contractor.

We mention it because knowing who pays for a website is useful when you are weighing what it tells you, and because a site that hides it does not deserve to be believed on anything else.
